Is preparatory programme for pre-school children and is now obligatory for every child age 5,5 to 7.It is a part of nine years compulsory education.Every child has the right to attend this program and it is cost free for everyone. Programme lasts for nine months.
According to the Mayer’s decision and with the support of Secretariat for children’s welfare, CYI’s goal is finding adequate mechanism to ensure better preparation of children from Roma settlement for mainstream primary education trough enrolment and support for sustained participation in the pre-school preparatory programme. Main outcome would be increased enrolment of these children in the compulsory pre-school program.
The most pertinent problem is the low enrolment and very high dropout of these children. They face a variety of barriers to education and our goal is to develop possible strategy for expanding access to pre-school education for these children.
At the moment our team is covering four settlements , all belonging to Palilula municipality.
