This program came as a result of research based on two years long work on the field and examining the needs of these children. Drop in center was opened on 3ed of August in residential building in Drinciceva Street. Initiated as a program of harm reduction, the main objective of drop-in center was to meet the basic needs of children and youth under 26. Because of large number of users and having in mind that the quality of service must be on the highest level, after four months we had to change the facilities. To justify the confidence of our users whose living conditions are extremely hard during the winter, drop-in centre continued to exist in REX (cultural centre).
Secretariat for children’s and social protection, on 9th of May 2008, gave the permission that CYI can use the property in Krfska 7a Street as new Drop-in centre. First users came on 24th of May 2008 and by now 450 users visited it. On daily bases Drop-in center has approximately 40 users and during winter these figures raise up to 70 users.
Big success of Drop-in center is inclusion of all society sectors ready to help. Numerous contacts are made with state and city institutions, companies, medias, citizens, schools etc.
